Shar Collector's Series: copy of Francesco Ruggieri 1673
Cost of Violin (including case): $6,250
Made in 2007, this violin is from the Shar Collector's Series & is a copy of a Francesco Ruggieri violin from 1673. The balanced tone & projection of this violin makes it perfect for advanced players. In addition to the reliable craftsmanship one can expect from Shar's finer instruments, the imitable luthier Anthony Lane made some adjustments to it in 2019 in preparation for selling it. (I paused that process when the pandemic hit.) The violin is strung with Evah Pirazzi strings, recently replaced, which bring out the best in the tone. Having sat unused for the last six years, one can expect this violin's sound to open up more as the violin is played with your capable hands. The case pictured above is included in the sale. I played this violin professionally from 2008-2018 & the cost is based on the original 2008 sale price of $4,200 adjusted for inflation. There are two options for bows outlined below. Aier Schaeffer Bow
Cost for this bow: $1,950
I purchased this bow in 2015 after auditioning many bows to optimize the sound of the violin for sale above. This bow is weighted perfectly to extract the best sound from this violin. Slightly tip heavier than others, this bow elicits a balanced & clear tone with less effort on the part of the player. More advanced players will want to purchase this bow with the violin, as they are perfectly matched! I played with this bow professionally from 2015-2018 & the cost is based on the original 2015 sale price of $1,500 adjusted for inflation. Added to the cost of the violin & case, the entire outfit comes in at $8,200.

J. LaSalle Bow
Cost for this bow: $100
I purchased this bow in 1999 as a young college student. It has seen its fair share of playing since then! Despite a slight chip in the frog (pictured below) this bow is suitable for students & is the more cost effective option if you want to purchase an entire violin outfit. Added to the cost of the violin & case, the entire outfit comes in at $6,350.
